PÓVOA DE VARZUM, Portugal - The second day of the Open European Mahjong Championship 2017 has started with session number 5. This means that the 216 competitors are now halfway the bruising battle of ten sessions..  Yoshihiro Suziki from Japan has lost his first place to his fellow-countryman Ryuichi Ohori.

PÓVOA DE VARZIM, Portugal - Session 1 of the Open European Mahjong Championship is played, with Japanese player Kota Sasaki getting a good start with the the best score after round one. Top European in the early session was German player Sabine Manten.

PÓVOA DE VARZIM, Portugal - Not until 00:40 last night, the final gong stroke over the first day of the OEMC 2017. Four sessions have been played, six more to go. After this exhausting day Japanese player and winner of the previous OEMC Yoshihiro Suzuki takes the lead, Freddy Christiansen from Denmark is in second position, while Ryuichi Ohori (also from Japan) is in third.
