DUNAÚJVÁROS, Hungary, August 20 - Austrian player Martin Hoffman is the first winner of the Austrian/Hungarian Sisi Cup. The prize was handed over to him today after the Second Hungarian Open Championship in the town of Dunaújváros.
The special price is meant for the player with the best results in both the Austrian Open an the Hungarian Open. Hoffmann was first on the Hungarian Open and third on the Austrian Open, one week earlier.
The Austrians did very well in the 'double championship'. Austrian players took second and third positions in the Austrian Open, and the first and third places in the Hungarian Open. Besides the Sisi Cup, they also won the team championship in the Hungarian Open.
One player could only could stand up successfully against the successes of the Baden (Vienna) players group. Ms. Bo Lang won the first prize in the Austrian Open Championship. This meant the first time ever victory for a Swiss player on a mahjong tournament.
