| Désirée Heemskerk with the beautiful mahjong set she received as the winner of thye German Open. |
HANOVER, September 23, 2007 - In the Netherlands, Ms. Désirée Heemskerk is one of the strongest players. After almost every tournament, she goes home with a trophey.
But on an international level, until now she score quite modestlty. Since she was a referee at the OEMC 2005 in Holland, she could not compete. She does not participate in many mahjong international tournaments. And the OEMC 2007 in Denmark was quite a deception for all her Dutch fans. With just 4 table points, she ended on position 127 (out of 136).
But now, this all has changed. Désirée was the best player in the Second German Open, which was concluded today in Hanover. She scored 18 table points, which was the same number as Brian Krog form Denmark, but per personal score was almost one hundred points better.
Mr. Hans Wikström on number 3 scored the first international Swedish success. Ms. Bo Lang from Switzerland, who recently one the Austrian championship, ended on position #4.
The first team prize was for the Danish Red Dragons.
