Gemma Collinge’s Macau Diary – Day 3
The World Series of Mahjong 2010 are over… Gemma Collinge of ReachMahjong.Com reports for Mahjong News. With a bit of delay, her last report.
MACAU - It’s the final day of the World Series. Gemma has already left the competition. Garthe came 33rd, just short of the cash prizes. Jenn came tenth so she made it through to the final day.
The final day consisted of 3 sessions. The first session would see 8 players eliminated. The second session would eliminate 4 players, leaving 4 players for the final table.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the excitement of seeing Jenn go through to the final table. After a very difficult first table, she was eliminated in the first session. It was particularly disappointing for her as she had done so well in the preliminary rounds but because on the final day points are reset to zero, she didn’t get to take any of her lead with her, meaning that it all rests on those few hands. It’s a harsh format and I think although it has some pros, there are some definite cons that we hope they will iron out for next year.
