 CHENGU - Li Li, a Chinese student of Tsinghua University, is the new world champion in mahjong. During the World Mahjong Championship (WMC), concluded today in Chengdu, he scored the best results after seven 'ju' (sessions) and the eighth, final ju. He is the successor of Mai Hatsune from Japan, the winner (in 2002) of the World Championship in Mahjong in Tokyo. Mai Hatsune did not compete in Chengdu to defend her title.
