The podium at AarhusAARHUS - Anders Labich adds yet another winner trophy to his collection with Saturdays victory in Riichi Aarhus Open. Unfortunately no foreigners had signed up, so the event was a strictly Danish trial.

In the morning Jeppe Stig Nielsen and Henrik Krogh Nielsen had a good head start, but they were overtaken by Anders Labich who had a terrific final round. In the fight for a top position, Morten Andersen managed to overtake several opponents in the last round and take home the third place.

The event was played over four sessions of 90 minutes with uma 9000/3000/-3000/-9000.

Notes

Tina Christensen, president of Mahjong Denmark, sends us some notes about forthcoming events:

'We look forward to the Danish Riichi Championship on October 3 in Copenhagen which has currently 9 Danes (several more expected), 4 British, 2 Finnish, 1 Dutch, 1 French and 1 Austrian signed up. Registration is open until September 17.

"For the Riichi Strategy Seminar on October 4 in Copenhagen 10 people have signed up so far, but we expect more participants to join. We are preparing some short presentations, some exercises and a lot of discussions which by our own experience is a fruitful way to learn about mahjong strategy. If it seems appropriate, we will split the participants into two classes, basic/experienced and expert."
