COPENHAGEN - One month ago, he was the last player but one  in the Dutch open riichi championship. But today in Copenhagen - capital of Denmark, where Europe's strongers riichi players reside - Canadian player Senechal Duhaut won the first prize in a field of 32 strong players.

Another surprise in the Copenhagen Open: the French riichi players,  trendsetters in recent riichi competitions in the UK, in Holland and in their own country, failed to impress. No one of the French succeeded in making it to the top ten in this MERS 1 event.

Jonas Hagerlid
I would just like to point out for the record that I do in fact come from humble Sweden and not the Glorious Mahjong Nation of Denmark.
