he top-three of the Kinryu Majan TaikaiALMERE - For the second time in a row, Sjef Strik has won the Kinryu Majan Taikai ('Golden Dragon Tournament'), one of the two yearly Dutch riichi mahjong events. Runner-up was Philipp Scharpf from Germany, third prize was for Martin Rep.

With 48 participants, the 'KMT' beat the record of the largest yearly riichi tournament on the European mahjong calendar. Amongst the players, there were 8 Germans and one French player.

Gertjan Davies became Dutch Champion Riichi Mahjong, since he had the best results on the combined two Dutch riichi tournaments: the KMT and the Cherry Blossom Tournament 2008.
