mocowriichi2011MOSCOW - Ruslan Zaytsev has won the first official riichi tournament on Russian soil, which took place today. Runner-up was Sergey Dedikov , after earlier successes in Holland and Paris. Player number three was Marina Belousova.

The tournament was a one day event, four sessions, EMA riichi rules, MERS 1 (and also the first tournament for the future Russian national riichi ranking which will combine the results of EMA and non-EMA rules riichi tournaments).

35 players from 10 Russian cities competed, mostly from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. The best Muscovite took the third place  - she became the Moscow champion.

The tournament was greeted by the director general of the Moscow's Japan House (Japanese business and cultural centre), Mr. Iori Endo, who addressed the participants in Japanese.
