The tournament was a one day event, four sessions, EMA riichi rules, MERS 1 (and also the first tournament for the future Russian national riichi ranking which will combine the results of EMA and non-EMA rules riichi tournaments). The tournament was greeted by the director general of the Moscow's Japan House (Japanese business and cultural centre), Mr. Iori Endo, who addressed the participants in Japanese.

MOSCOW - Ruslan Zaytsev has won the first official riichi tournament on Russian soil, which took place today. Runner-up was Sergey Dedikov , after earlier successes in Holland and Paris. Player number three was Marina Belousova.
