ALMERE - Marianne Croeze of the Rotterdam mahjong club today has won the Dutch Championship (Chinese Classical Rules).


Trophey for the winner of the Dutch Championship (Chinese Classical Rules). The combination of the Bird (Bamboo 1, or Pe Ling) with the Dot 1 is a special combination in the Dutch rules.Just 36 players participated in the tournament, which had adopted refreshed rules, in order to make this somewhat forgotten variant more popular.

Organizer Robert Rijnders, also president of the Dutch Mahjong Organisation, however, does not want to give up hope yet for the 'Dutch Tournament Rules'. "Some years ago, we witnessed the same low number of participants in riichi tournaments. And you see how well are things going now for riichi."
