STOCKHOLM - It looks as though MahjongLogic has acted wisely to make a pilot project of the official tournaments in cooperation with the European Mahjong Association (EMA). Last weekend's 'Official EMA Riichi Tournament' was attended by just eight players. Some players walked out when they had no more chance to win the event. The tournament was won by 'Ben3dict' from Singapore.
One week before, Paula Pereira Gomes from Portugal won the first EMA MCR Online Tournament on the Mahjong Logic (eMahjong) server. By winning, she got the first prize of 110 USD. Runner-up was Ans Hoogland from the Netherlands (66 USD), third prize was for Oliv' Boivin (44 USD). In the course of the event, some players quit the game since they had no chances to win. There were some teething troubles during this first event. E.g., at some time during the tournament it was not possible to log in the server if you wanted to witness the matches. The tournament itself, however, went on without problems. Mahjong player Olivier Boivin has commented on the first tournament. |
