Dees (Désirée Heemskerk)SAN DIEGO - Dutch player 'Dees' (Désirée Heemskerk) has won the third Open European Championship Online (Mahjong Competition rules). Runner-up was 'Cynosure' (Michael Zaradnik from Germany), third place for another Dutch, i.e. 'Janco' (Janco Onnink). Eighty players competed in the third OEMC Online.

It was the first international title for Désirée Heemskerk, who also played excellent on the World Championship 2007 in Chengdu, China, where she ended on the tenth place as the first non-Asian player. It was also the first international title for the Netherlands. In spite of their massive presence on many  international tournaments, until now, never a Dutch won a European or world title.

Since 2005, MahjongTime has organized international championships on its internet server, in cooperation with the European Mahjong Association (EMA). Of these tournaments, a special online ranking (called MORSE) is maintained after each championship.
