HELSINKI - Miika Nikula has won the first Finnish international mahjong tournament. It was a modest start for Finland as a member of the European mahjong community: only eight players participated, although for a long time it had looked as though a third table could open. Finland is one of the new member-countries of the European Mahjong Association (EMA), admitted during the General Assemblee of EMA during the OEMC 2009 at Baden/Vienna. This first tournament had no MERS-certification, though. Spokesman Deni Seitz said all went well during the First Finnish Open, "even though I was informed that there was a small scoring mistake on the last round at Miikas table. He should have about 20 minipoints more, but it doesn't change anything, so it doesn't really matter." The final results

(I've got the biggest mahjong web site in Finland, yet I had to read about the tournament and the tournament results from MahjongNews - that tells something about the situation of mahjong in Finland, I suppose.)
I have now corrected the table. (Too bad for the 10 pts difference in the mini-points, though.)
