MILAN - FIMJ-president Marco Foschi is the winner of the Sixth Italian Open, concluded today in Milan. Runner-up was Ludovic Brun from France, third prize went to Marco's sister Elisa. 84 players from four countries participated in this first large event on Italian soil after the successful European Championship 2011 at Mestre/Venice. The Italian Open, which was played during two days, was certified with a MERS-rating of 2 points.

Our correspondent in Milan, Marco Milandri, writes about the tournament:

“After the 2nd round, 5 players have 8 table points: Foschi M., Kraxner E., Gintsberger G., Zavalloni P. and Brun L. In the 3rd round only Brun L. gains 4 more table points and he is the only one with 12 table points. Behind him there are Foschi M., Tassinari O., Procopio S. with 10 table points each and 9 players with 9 table points.”

Bad round

“In the 4th round Brun L., Foschi M. and Tassinari O. gain 4 table points, so Brun has 16 tp and Foschi and Tassinari 14. Behind them, there is Uguccioni L. with 13 tp; previously she was 13th. Manzo A. is 5th with 12 tp, before she was 16th

“In the 5th round, Brun and Foschi and Manzo win 4 tp. They are the best three players with 20, 18 and 16 tp. Tassinari O. is still with 14 tp because of a bad round and now is 8th. Uguccioni L. gains 2 tp and now is 5th. Rijoff S. was 7th in the round 4 and now is 4th with 15 tp.

“In the 6th (final) round, Brun slips and gains only 1 tp instead Foschi wins his table and now has 22 tp while Brun 21. Behind Uguccioni has 19 tp and Guenel E. 17 that previously was 11th. Rijoff is 8th and Tassinari 13th.”
