Anders Labich again Champion of Denmark 2008

Anders LabichCOPENHAGEN - Anders Labich is the new champion of Denmark. Today in Frederiksbergen (Copenhagen), he dethroned the 2007 champion, Henrik Leth. Jonas Lagerlid from Sweden ended in second position, Topi Musto from Finland, with three table points less, became 3rd. Before the last session Swedish player Jonas Hagerlid was in the lead, but in the end he had to settle for second, while Anders Labich the first place. That makes Anders the first person to win the title twice.

The Third Danish Open was a quite international happening, with many players from abroad. Apart from Sweden and Finland, also France (Laurent Mahé) and the Netherlands (Anton Kösters) were respresented. There were 36 contestants.
It was a great weekend for Swedish mahjong. Friday evening a Swedish mahjong organization was founded, and Saturday the Swedish players triumphed at the Danish Championship. Not only the second place for Jonas was a Swedish success, but also the 4th place of Hans Wikström was notable. Besides, the Swedish got the prize for the best team.
