Ingrid Broeder (third prize), Marianne Croeze (winner), Ton Rijnders (runner-up).

 

NIJMEGEN, the Netherlands - Marianne Croeze today has won the Nijmegen Cherry Blossom Tournament (riichi mahjong). 


All players on the honorary stand were Dutch: runner-up was Ton Rijnders, Ingrid Broeder ended on third position.

With sixty participants from eight countries, the Cherry Blossom Tournament broke a new record as the largest regular riichi tournament in Europe.

Winner Marieke Koehorst, surrounded by veteran players Ton Rijnders (left) and Rudy Wong-Chung.HEEMSTEDE, the Netherlands - Young player Marieke Koehorst (28) today played her second Dutch mahjong tournament - and she went home with the first prize. One month ago, she reached to the 39th position in the Amsterdam Kong Robbers Tournament, but now, in the Valentine Tournament at Heemstede, near Haarlem, she ranked number one, with a hundred percent score.

Two years ago, at Edewecht, his father Richard was the first German winner of a MERS tournament. Today, at Dortmund, the sixteen year old ‘Bube’ (the kid) was the only German in the top five of the Dortmund MCR Open. The numbers 2~5 were all for Dutch players.
