BERLICUM/HERTOGENBOSCH, the Netherlands - The famous Dutch Cherry Blossom Tournament is moving to a new venue. The 2012 edition will be held at Berlicum/Hertogenbosch, in the same inn where the yearly Daja/Thirteen Orphans MCR Tournament takes place. Subscription to the competition, which is  scheduled for April, 14th, is opened.

PARIS - Joel Ratsimandrésy has won the first Red Eyes Tournament (get riichi or die tryin’), completed today in Paris. Runner-up was Maude Grimberg, who was almost 27,000 points behind; third place was for Nicolas Campina.

DUNÁUJVÁROS - The Hungarian hosts outnumbered their Austrian guests by far (20  19 against 4 3), but on the honorary stage of the White Dragon Tournament it was the Austrians who seized power. So the last MCR MERS tournament of 2011, which took place today at Dunáujváros in Hungary, was an Austrian victory: 1. Otto Myslivec, 2. Elisabeth Frischenschlager. From Hungary, only European champion Ildikó Hargitai made it to the top three.

CERVIA, Ravenna - The Big Green Dragons (‘I Dragoni Verdi’ have won the Italian tournament for mahjong teams. The individual classification was won by Silvia Mazzotto of the team The Historicans (‘Gli Storici’). It was the second time this tournament, concluded today at Cervia, took place. It was played by the Italian rules, a mixture of the old classical Chinese rules and Japanese riichi mahjong (with a declaration for a ready hand).
