Mr. Benjamin Boas from the USA was the runner-up (147.300 pts), third place was for Mrs. Ping Song from China. The prize for the best MahjongTime player was for Chris Scheffler ('Dragontwo') from the Netherlands. In the final classification, he ended on the 8th position. This first international riichi championship was organized by Riichi Mahjong the Netherlands (i.e. Mr. Sjef Strik and Mr. Martin Rep), in cooperation with the German Mahjong League DMJL, particularly the active Hanover mahjong club. Eighty players from eleven countries participated in the succesfull event. In his opening speech, Martin Rep remembered Mr. Frans Roquas from the Netherlands, who recently passed away.
