valerianthomasPARIS - They have just started playing in international tournaments, yet the French dominate the list of the best riichi players of 2011. Most successful of them is Valérian Thomas, with Nicolas Campina as the runner-up. Only Gemma Collinge from the UK prevents the French from completely occupying the top-three; and it's another French, Jean-Marc Dedieu, who is on position number 4.

AMSTERDAM - For the second time in a row, a Dutch girl is ‘MCR player of the year’.  Last year, Eveline Broers had the highest score in the Mahjong News ranking of the Player of the Year. This year, it is her fellow-countrywoman Marianne Croeze who has the best results, while Eveline ending on 86th position. Another player from Holland, Désirée Heemskerk, this year is the runner-up. Third place is for Marco Montebelli from Italy.
