World of Warcraft Mahjong Set

worldofwarcraft

AMSTERDAM, May, 16th - Chinese internet company and World of Warcraft regional publisher NetEase has made a limited edition ‘World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria’-themed mahjong set.

Each set costs 1,288 renminbi (USD209) and includes a fully playable mahjong game, complete with tiles, table mats featuring WoW game maps, dividers and chips, all in a thematic wooden carrying case. The board’s decals are designed to look like artwork straight out of World of Warcraft, with a color palette reminiscent of that used for structures and environments in Mists of Pandaria.
Only 1000 of these mahjong sets will be made available worldwide, although the set only appears to be sold through the Chinese-based company. Pre-orders are being taken right now. More pictures are shown on the NetEase website (link below).

Next OEMC: 2014 in France, Hungary or even Belgium

MESTRE - The location of the next European championship is not known yet. Today, the General Assembly of the European Mahjong Association could not yet make a decision, since no official proposals have been received. But what the GA did decide, is to extend the term between two OEMC’s from two to three years, so the next OEMC will take place in 2014. EMA hopes the OEMC will then alternate with the world championships, but for the latter depends on the cooperation with the World Mahjong Organization in Beijing.

The French mahjong association will not decide about a proposal until later this year. The Hungarians have a preference for organizing the next OEMC; that will be in 2017. Also the Belgians are interested, but since they have a tiny organization, they want to do more investigation.
For the next European championship riichimahjong, one proposal has been received: from the Vienna Kasu club, but the status of this proposal is indisttinct. Besides, the Austrians want to change some rules. e.g. introducing bankruptcy: if a player runs out of chips, the game ends. To EMA, this will not be acceptable, says newly chosen EMA-president Tina Christensen.
