(Update: Also Mahjong Logic takes measures)
SAN DIEGO - Participants in online tournaments on the server of Mahjong Time will have to pay security money ahead of the tournament. This way, MJT wants to prevent them from walking away before the end of the competition. Mahjong Logic (e-Mahjong) now has taken similar measures. MJT has announced this in the subscription form for next month’s Hong Kong Mahjong Tournament. Players who want to take part in the Hong Kong Global Mahjong Tournament on June 12th, will have to pay 300 ‘golden coins’ (3 US dollar), of which amount 200 coins (i.e. 2 dollar) will be paid back to players who really participate. On the servers of Mahjong Logic, players who have not shown up one minute before a free roll tournament begins, cannot participate anymore. This also goes for the 'preliminary tournament' for one seat in the World Mahjong Championship, coming Sunday (June 20th). ComplaintIn a column in Mahjong News, our correspondent Adrie Van Geffen complained about players in online tournament who do not show up, or walk away from a tournament when they no longer have a chance to win. This is very frustrating for the other players. Adrie called them ‘Mahjong Hooligans’. Apparently, MJT tries to push back the number of these ‘hooligans’ by having them paid some kind of caution money. Adrie Van Geffen is rather happy with the MJT action, and he is proud to have initiated a discussion on the topic on various forums, in which Oliv' (France) and Gemma Collinge (UK) participated. |
