 PARIS - Within two months, the Fifth International Paris Mahjong Tournament will take place. (Subscription is alredy closed; there are 108 participants.) On the occasion of this event, the Paris club Magic Mahjong Social Pung has released an almost professional YouTube video. The movie has been made by Nicholas Berthelot.

 AMSTERDAM - Dutch silver smith Janny Schoonhoven has set another major step in finishing her mahjong set of massive silver. Recently, she completed the series of eight Flower and Season tiles. She plans to have the complete set ready timely before the World Mahjong Championship, which will take place in the Netherlands, coming Summer.

 HELSINKI - The next version of the popular mahjong software game ‘Four Winds Mahjong’ is likely to contain ‘Washizu Mahjong’. This very special mahjong variant is inspired on the Japanese manga ‘Akagi’. In this manga - also turned into a cartoon - a spectacular, deadly mahjong competition is played with tiles which are transparent - that is to say: most of them.

GUILDFORD, Surrey, England - Great Britain has not joined the European Mahjong Association yet, but still the first official MERS tournament will take place there soon. On June 26th, at Guildford, the county town of Surrey, the UK Riichi Open will take place. Just last weekend, subscription to the event has been opened.
