 During the UK Riichi Open, the formal EMA riichi mahjong scoresheet will be used. Yet, during riichi tournaments where English riichi players participated, the others players sometimes were puzzled by the English way of counting, adding ‘bam bam’. What does this bam bam mean? An explanation for the ‘Guildford goers’ .

 TOKYO - He thinks it could have made him rich, but eventually the mahjong calculator that the new Japanese prime minister Naoto Kan invented when he was a student, never made it to the production line.

SAN DIEGO - Participants in online tournaments on the server of Mahjong Time will have to pay security money ahead of the tournament. This way, MJT wants to prevent them from walking away before the end of the competition. Mahjong Logic (e-Mahjong) now has taken similar measures.

The World Champion Sings
TAIPEI - Online game companies have helped organize a mass mahjong competition for students that kicked off in Taipei arena last Saturday. The Taiwan United Daily News reported that more than 600 students from 10 colleges signed up for the competition, with most in face-to-face games and some playing online.
