CEBU (Philippines) - Two people ended up stabbed while gambling in Cebu City over the weekend.

 In barangay Sirao, farmer Dionisio Oyao Jr., 23, was stabbed in the nape after an argument over a billiard game. In barangay Quiot, Reynulfo Carpio, 32, was stabbed in the left arm while playing mahjong.



In the Sirao incident, police tagged Rusel Laborte, 30, as the suspect.

Police said Oyao and Laborte were playing billiards when the two had a disagreement over their bet.

A fistfight ensued, but it was broken up by Oyao’s brother Renan.

Laborte was seen leaving the billiard hall. But minutes later, he returned with a knife and used it to stab Oyao in the nape.

A policeman responded to the scuffle and arrested Laborte.



In barangay Quiot, Carpio was with three friends playing mahjong when an assailant, identified only as “Jerome,” came along and attacked him barehanded. Carpio and his friends noted that Jerome reeked of liquor.

 Carpio was able to fend off Jerome, prompting the attacker to leave. But minutes later, Jerome came back with a knife and stabbed Carpio in the left arm.

The assailant fled after the attack. Responding policemen were not able to trace the suspect’s whereabouts.

Police suspect Carpio and Jerome had a previous disagreement.
