ZHEJIANG - A new mother in Taizhou was so engaged in playing mahjong on Sunday night that she mistook 30 millilitres of white liquor in a glass on the table for cold water and used it to prepare milk formula for her five-month-old baby when it cried, the Qianjing Evening News reports.

She did not realise the mistake until the baby, red in the face, cried again soon after finishing the milk and she smelled the liquor on his breath. The baby recovered after having its stomach pumped in hospital.
