SCHOONHOVEN, the Netherlands - "I hereby send you a picture of a Red Dragon in… gold!" Janny Adelaar, silversmith in the Dutch 'silver capital' of Schoonhoven is just making fun. "No, it is not gold, but it is high-gloss polished bronze. But, for most people, this looks exactly like gold." Janny is in the process of making a mahjong set of massive silver. She sells loose tiles, but she is also sure she will find a buyer for the whole set, which costs about 52,500 euros (approx. 64,880 USD). But now she has found a rich mahjong player who wants to buy a set in bronze. This set will be considerably less expensive (12,500 euros or 17,500 USD), whilst it will look like a set of of pure gold. Janny immediately made a Red Dragon in bronze, to send a picture of it to the potential buyer. Worlds most expensive mahjong set YouTube video of the making of the massive silver set: |
