TOKIO - Mahjong tiles as fashion jewels - they are depicted this week on ‘Japanese Streets’, the blog of Kjeld Duits, a Dutch photographer/reporter who lives and works in Japan.
He writes to Mahjong News: "I have an assistent who recently shot some pictures of this young man. Right away, I had to think that Mahjong News would like this." Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, Mr. Duits launched ‘Japanese Streets’ in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.
Mr. Duits wrote several books about Japan, mostly in Dutch. He is a regular contributor to the Dutch daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad. |
