In an interview with MahjongNews, he says: "Unfortunately I did make that decision and no it was not an easy decision to make. But in the past years I've had less and less time to deal with everything. With raising four children, my time was drawn in different directions and mahjong received less and less of my time.

"I don't feel like I have still made the decision one hundred percent, and I've struggled with it for a couple of years to finally get to this point."

Kyoichiru NoguchiTOKYO - Kyoichiru Noguchi, honorary president of the Japan Mahjong Organizing Committee JMOC and founder of the Mahjong Museum and publishing house Take Shobo, has retired from his function at JMOC. Noguchi-san played a decisive role in the world-wide spread of the Chinese Official mahjong rules, now generally known as Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR). He was the initiator of the first World Championship in Mahjong, which was followed by numerous international tournaments.

Jonas AlmSTOCKHOLM - Last week, the mahjong world witnessed the start of a new online network: Mahjong Logic. On two servers, the game is already running, with impressive graphics. Within the next couple of months, more servers will be in the air, and from then, also money games will be launched. Time to talk with Jonas Alm, chief executive officer of Mahjong Logic. “Yes, we intend to sponsor mahjong events. And yes, on our server a player can win thousands of euros.”

Etienne DelessardPARIS - French player Etienne Delessard has passed away. He has put an end to his life on Friday, August 21st. Etienne was an active member of the Mahjong Anime Club, which he helped establishing. Last Spring, he became vice-champion of France in  the Open French Championship. 

In an announcement, his friend Olivier Boivin says: "We are all loosing  a great player, but first of all a good friend."
