 AMSTERDAM, April 1st - The 2012 World Mahjong Championship will take place from October 25~31th, 2012. This has been announced today by the Organizing Committee of the World Mahjong Championship. The competition will be held in Chongqing, China’s biggest city.

PARIS - The Paris Open 2012 (MCR) tournament, concluded today, was won by French player Simon Bounkéo Fongue. Runner-up in this MERS 1 tournament was Alessia Cosmo from Italy, number 3 was Judith Ravel from France. There were 100 players: 76 from France, 15 from the Netherlands and 9 from other countries.

HANOVER - Axel Eschenburg from Hanover is the winner of the German Riichi Open 2012 which was concluded today in Hanover. Runner-up was Alexander Doppelhofer from Austria, third place was for Henrik Hanssen from Germany. There were 28 players in this MERS 2-competition.

 MOSCOW - Dmitry Mikhailov from Lesnoy city has won the Moscow Open Riichi Tournament, which took place last Sunday. Second prize was for Nakajima Toyohei, the third for Kirill Vasiltsov (both of them are living in Moscow). All three winners had the same average place 1,25 after four sessions, and the only difference was the amount of points. The player on the first place received a vintage reach mahjong set. There were 56 participants in the tournament, five of whom were strong players from Japan.

BADEN - The European Riichi Championship 2013 will take place at Bad Vöslau near Vienna in Austria. The board of the European Mahjong Association (EMA) has approved with the bid of Mr. Alexander Doppelhofer of the Austrian Great Dragons riichi mahjong club. This means the championship will be held from September 18th~22nd. The championship will be played in ten hanchan (sessions), starting Friday and ending on Sunday. The day before this competition, an optional team championship will take place.
