SAN DIEGO - Since last weekend, Mahjong Time is back in busines: the first formal online tournament was held ever since the coorperation between the European Mahjong Association and the intermet mahjongserver was broken. Now with the first 'Global Mahjong Tournament'. Based on the results of this first tournament, Mahjong News correspondent Adrie van Geffen has calculated the Global Mahjong Ranking List, based on the old MORSE Ranking, plus the new MJT event.

'Nobody'Just like on the EMA MORSE ranking list, Martin Scheichenbauer (a.k.a. 'nobody') is in the lead, before Laurent Mahé from France and Frank Rostved from Denmark.

However, in various aspects, the Mahjong News Ranking differs from the one which is published by MahjongTime itself. The MahjongNews ranking is cleared: players who walked away during a game or did not show up at all, have been disqualified and get a score of 0 for that tournament.

Besides, MJT published the number of players when players did not show up. This is not right, since these players are replaced by 'bots' (robots): a replacement player. Finally, MJT has added two tournaments that had too few participants, and therefore formally should not be implied in the ranking.

Current ranking can be found here.
