Quentin Porcherot

The organizers of this tournament were Valérian and Quentin THOMAS. They were not playing.

Yes, I fully agree that for small tournaments other seating schemes might be of better sense/ use.
For instance, ideal tournament is 5-sessions 16-players where everybody meets everybody.

Besides that by 20 players it is still doubtful, if it would make any practical sense to use it (as everyone plays with 12 players out of the 19, which is 63%). I expect the tournaments, on which your software was used, were much bigger. I would say the optimal ratio should be below 50%, around 30-40% would be even better (so 32-40 players for 4H tournament).

I am wondering what type of Seating System was used for this tournament, random or equally-matched?
How many hanchans it was, 4 or 5?

The tournament had 4 hanchans, and it was played with random draw, although we considered also Swiss system for some time. But for time concerns we didn`t use it at the end, as we didn`t have any non-playing staff.

‘Red Eyes Tournament’ in Paris

redeyesPARIS - The new Parisian riichi mahjong club TNT (Tri-Nitro Tiles) is organizing its first tournament. The Red Eyes Tournament is going to take place on Saturday, December 17th and has an official certification (MERS 1) of the European Mahjong Association.

Riichi mahjong is gaining popularity at a fast pace in France. During the 2011 Open French Riichi Mahjong Championship, a surprising number of young French were welcomed.

Subscription for the tournament has been opened; more info about that here. Deadline closes on December 9th. A maximum of 48 players can be hosted.

This tournament is mainly organized by RER : Red Eyes Riichi. RER is the 2nd (after TNT) parisian club, 100% dedicated to Riichi rules.
TNT & RER are 2 different clubs, the 1st one is leaded by Quentin Thomas, the 2nd one is leaded by Nicolas Poilleux.

Tri-Nitro-Tiles, Magic Mahjong Social Pung & Fleur d'Orchidée will of course help in the organisation of this tournament.

This MERS 1 tournament can host a maximum of 48 players (there is already 21 registred players).
So, if you want a seat, be quick !

Pity, on the same day the Dutch Mahjong Assocation have their annual tournament and we go to Utrecht.
Hope to get there in 2012.

Hello.
There is a mistake, the "Red Eyes Tournament" is not organized by TNT, but by "Red Eyes Riichi", a new riichi club in Paris.
