BADEN - After the second day of the Open European Mahjong Championship, Bo Lang from Switzerland leads the general ranking. It was a very heavy day at the Hotel Schloß Weikersdorf at Baden, with four sessions to be played in a steaming hot hall. Not only the mahjong skills but also the physical strength of the players are becoming more and more important.
Bo Lang is the only player with 22 points after six rounds, which is a 92 percent score. Otto Myslivec from Austria and Angela Nyulasine Lakos from Hungary are just 1 point behind.

SCHOONHOVEN, the Netherlands - "I hereby send you a picture of a Red Dragon in… gold!" Janny Adelaar, silversmith in the Dutch 'silver capital' of Schoonhoven is just making fun. "No, it is not gold, but it is high-gloss polished bronze. But, for most people, this looks exactly like gold."

A disgrace It is the nightmare for every organizer of a mahjong tournament: players who do not show up. As a result of this, at the very last moment new playing schedules have to be made, while the other players, impatiently, have to wait until they can start. And that is just one of the problems. This worst-case scenario has come true for the Austrian organizers of the Third Open European Mahjong Championship at Baden. No, it is even worse: a large number (eleven players) from the most important mahjong country, China, did not come to Baden.
