COPENHAGEN, June 21, 2007 - Soon, the European Mahjong Association (EMA) will have a formal status. During its biannual meeting, the General Assembly of the EMA has agreed upon the official statutes of the organization, which means a first step for the EMA to become an official body.
Since registration is the easiest and less expensive in Denmark, this country will become the formal seat of the EMA.
The General Assembly re-elected Mr. Uwe Martens from Germany as the president, and appointed two vice-presidents: Ms. Tina Christensen from Denmark, and Mr. Martin Rep from the Netherlands.
The members of the General Assembly were disappointed that the attempts to become a member of the Eueopean Minds Sports Organisation seem to be without success, in spite of a recommendation of Ms. Erica Terpstra, president of the Dutch Olympic Committee and a member of the International Olympic Committee.
