World Champion Li Li from China and Ms. Désirée Heemskerk from Holland.
BADEN (Austria), February 5th - The organizing committee of the Open European Mahjong Championship 2009 has published its second newsletter. It contains the quota per country which are valid for the OEMC. The new EMA countries (Finland, Slovenia, Russia and Spain) all can send 2 players; more players of those countries can qualify during a number of MERS and MORSE tournaments (qualified live and online tournaments).

The team also welcomes the current world champion from China, Li Li. This is a confirmation of an earlier invitation which was done in Chengdu, right after the world championship. According to the newsletter, Mr. Li Li has accepted the invitation.

The committee alse 'hopes to welcome also the reigning European Mahjong Champion Mister Martin Wedel Jacobson form Denmark, as well as the best European participant in China, Miss Désirée Heemskerk from the Netherlands, and many other famous mahjong players from all over the world.' According to Otty Myslevec of the committee this does not mean that these players have a wildcard for the OEMC. 'They are welcome, just as other who will qualify', he says.
