| A piggie for te winner: Bo Lang shows her first prize. Left Martin Hoffmann (third prize), right Martin Mauthner (runner-up). |
FELDKIRCHEN, August 12, 2007 - At the OEMC 2007, she scored quite modest and landed on the 95th position. But at the Second Austrian Open which was concluded today, Philippine born Ms. Bo Lang from Switzerland was the great surprise. Bo outsmarted the Austrian competition and therefor she fully deserved the victory. She took 18 table points, just as many as her closest competitor Mr. Martin Mauthner from Austria, but her score was much better: 561 points for her against 432 for Martin.
Third prize was for another Austrian player, Martin Hofman, whilst a thirteen-years old boy, Kilian Stöckeman from Germany, ended just after the top-three. Sixty players competed in the event, which took place in the pretty Amtshof Theater in the heart of the little Austrian town of Feldkirchen (Kärnten).
The Italian players did pretty well in the tournament, even though non of them ranked into the top-ten. But 'gli Azzuri' scored the highest individual points in three out of six rounds: Benini Paride, Moratti Giorgio and Olivieri Oranio. The other rounds were for Roswitha Fischerauer (Austria), Anton Kösters (the Netherlands) and András Boda (Hungary).
